Drawing & Painting Competition

On the momentous occasion of 70th Anniversary of Independence of the country and 75th Anniversary of Quit India Movement, CBSE Grades VI to X  decided to celebrate the event in a befitting manner by having a Drawing and Painting Competition on the theme of India’s Independence movement.  In continuation of the Independence Day Celebrations on the 15th of August, and with an object to create a festive and patriotic mood across the school, students were encouraged to participate in the competition. The aim was to sensitize every student of the school about the need to realize the vision of a New India. Without breaking their daily routine and putting students to undue strain, the activity was integrated along with their curriculum.

Investiture Ceremony

On the 1st of august 2017 the newly elected prefect council came into power. The investiture ceremony was conducted with great joy and enthusiasm. It was a solemn occasion where the young students were all prepared to don the mantle of leadership and discharge the responsibilities entrusted upon them by the school. The chief guest for the day was Mr. Sameer Arora , Principal of Legacy International School. The school Principal, Mr. Venkat Suresh Lolla administered the oath to the newly elected prefect council members. The council members were invested with their badges .The chief guest delivered a speech which was indeed very inspiring . There was a motivational song sung by the students of the school choir. The prefect council members were selected after going through three rigorous rounds- written round , group discussion round and the last and final round which was the interview round. The students also marched showing their respect to the dignitaries of the school. The whole event was hosted by the P.E instructoR, Swapna Bhaskaran.

Independence Day Celebration

The 70th anniversary of independence Day Celebrations at Global City International School was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm. The heavy downpour the previous day did not dampen the spirits of the enthusiastic students who came dressed in bright hues and colours of the Tricolour. There were dances, patriotic songs, skits, mime and speeches to mark the occasion. The skit by the high school students on the Quit India Movement was a runaway hit with the audience. The children enjoyed performing their roles as much as the audience enjoyed watching them. The grandparents of the Kindergarten were specially invited to be the guests on the occasion. The President of the school, Mr. Jayapal and the Principal, Mr. Venkat Suresh Lolla addressed the audience and spoke about the need to rise above the petty differences existing between certain sections in the community and take the nation towards progress.

All India Essay Writing Competition

On 7th of August our students have participated in All India Essay Writing Competition organized by Sri Ramchandra Mission ‘s Heartfulness Institute. The topic was “Sometimes the Heart sees what the mind cannot see”.

Inter-House Dance Competition

On the 23rd of August, the students of CBSE grades VI-X had their first Inter House Competition which was the Inter House Group Dance Competition. The topic was internationalism. The 4 houses of GCIS displayed their performances and indeed it was amazing. The students were asked to take any one international form of dance and portray a message through their dance. The judges of the competition were Mr. Gautham Mrs. Kritika and Mrs. Aditya Priya. It was a remarkable effort put up by the students and the teachers. All the four houses were unique in their own ways. The Emerald house chose the theme of Harry Potter. The Ruby House chose to portray the importance of the girl child. The Sapphire house portrayed global unity and the Topaz house depicted International integration. All the students enjoyed the dances showcased by the four houses. The compering for the whole event was done by Navya Jayachandran , the school cultural secretary.

Leap Start & GAIT

In May 2017, a workshop was held for the teachers was held at GCIS.

The GAIT session was a very helpful and interactive group activity. We experienced lots of fun and performed physical activities also. Role plays as well as group activities were conducted. Throughout this session we realized the importance of various grooming sessions inside the classes. By using these grooming sessions we can make the children very interactive and make them understand about team work and coordination.

Triumph in SOF

The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) is an educational and a non-profit organization based in New Delhi, India which promotes science, mathematics, introductory computer education and English language skills amongst school children in India.

Participants of Olympiads are ranked on the basis of marks obtained. Hence, after taking the first level of the test, students can judge themselves academically at four levels- within the school, at zonal level and above all at International level. Students are awarded based on their level ranking.

The 7th International English Olympiad (IEO) examination 2016, first in the history of English language testing in India, was organised and conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) in association with British Council.

It takes a ton of effort to become a winner. For Hari Prasad (CIE 7), it was totally worth it! We take pride in announcing that Hari Prasad got awarded in International rank 1 category in the 7th SOF-IEO 1st level winners. He received a Gold Medal, IEO- Academic Book Set and a Certificate of Outstanding Performance. The school congratulates him for the prestigious attainment.

To add joy to the glory of success, we also happily congratulate the recipients of the IEO School Topper Medals – Gold, Silver and Bronze. The Gold awardees are Reyansh Dongre (Grade 3), M Kushal Nair (Grade 4), Samiksha S Das (Grade 5), Aarya Mishra (Grade 6) and Avantika V A (Grade 8).

Furthermore, Krishiv Kapoor also received a Certificate of Zonal Excellence in the 19th SOF National Science Olympiad (NSO). Cheers to Krishiv Kapoor!

The school strongly anticipates more feats from the fully geared up competitors for 2017 Olympiads.

AFS Intercultural Programs Award

This week our school received another honorable award from a very close friend-organisation, AFS India.

The award in recognition of Outstanding Support and Dedication to the organization was presented to our Principal, Mr Venkata Suresh Lolla and President, Mr R. Jayapal, by the Chairperson of AFS Bangalore chapter, Ms Angela Roye, and the current President, Ms Vasudha Tavag.

AFS India is part of the AFS Intercultural Programs organization providing International Educational Programs and Intercultural Experience. Our school, having a strong tie-up with the organization, has participated and organized numerous events, hosted and is currently hosting international students and teachers.
